Horrie Godden

Horrie Godden

Up to the time of his death, Horrie Godden was the club's most constant competitor. He rarely missed a race! As well as his success in local races he cruised to New Zealand in 1967 and 1969 and competed in the Auckland to Suva race, as well as the Whangerei to Noumea race. His most consistent effort was in the Brisbane to Gladstone race coming second in 1964, third in 1965, and second again in 1966. (He did not compete in 1967, but Wal Burke kept the club's reputation to the fore by winning that year!) Horrie competed again in 1968, and came second again! He followed this with a third in 1970.
